Obituary of Beulah Vivian Newberry
Beulah Vivian Tibbs Newberry went peacefully to meet the Lord on Friday, October 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Mazappa Coolige and Margaret Angeline Tibbs; her loving husband of 50 years, Allen Taylor “A.T.” Newberry; two brothers, Ray Tibbs and Curt Tibbs; two sisters, Reba Morris and Mable Morris; two sons-in-law, Duane C. Davis, Sr. and Tony Cicero Havens.
Beulah leaves behind to cherish her memory, four children, son and daughter-in-law, Robert Eugene and Ella Newberry; three daughters and son-in-law, Rita Joyce and Louie Ayers; Betty Sue Davis and Helen Christine Havens; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great greatgrandchildren; special friends, Kathy Harner and Pat Mitchell.
Beulah was an avid reader especially of her Bible and Upper Room, both of which she read daily. Her best friend was her Word Search Books. One of her passions was quilting which she done by hand. She loved the farm life and traveling to fairs and sheep shows with A.T. During the mornings and evening hours she could be found watching her favorite game shows on T.V. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She was happiest when her family was around her, laughing and joking, and enjoying each other’s company. When family and friends was around, she loved a good card game of Rook or Rummy.
Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Grubb Funeral Home with the Reverend Howard Finkel officiating. Interment will follow in the Newberry Cemetery in Bland. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2 P.M.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of Southwest Virginia Nurses and Staff for all the care they have shown the family and Beulah. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
