Obituary of James Alfred Smith

James Alfred Smith, age 82, of Wytheville, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017. He was the son of the late George and Florence Harvey Smith and was a United States Marines Veteran. James was a longtime employee of the Wytheville Recycling Center, North 52, Wytheville. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Ray Smith; sister, Hattie Marie Smith and survived by his wife, Gay Jewell Smith of Wytheville; son, Nathan Edward Smith of Wytheville; sister, Marietta Noe of Lafayette, Ind.; grandson and spouse, Jack & Maggie Smith of Massachusetts, 3 great-grandchildren and other family members also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in the Mt. Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 P.M. until service time. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
