Obituary of Donald L Arney
Donald L. Arney age 69, of Rural Retreat, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was born in Virginia on April 12, 1954 to the late Robert L. and Nellie Simpkins Arney. Donald retired from Hubble Lighting with over 30 years of service. He was a lifelong Christian having served the Lord in many capacities. He ministered with Chariots of Light, he ministered over 10 years for the Wytheville Homeless Shelter, he ministered at the Christian Coffee House in Wytheville and served as a Evangelist in several area churches. He attended Life Changers Christian Center until his health wouldn’t permit him to do so. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Graves and brother-in-law, Roger Graves.
Survivors include his wife Connie Arney of Rural Retreat; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Duncan of Roanoke; Carmen and Jeremy Gravely of Max Meadows; Samantha Keith of Wytheville; Cara and Bryan Gibson of Oklahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Leila Meade of Hillsville; Johnathan Wooldridge of Rural Retreat; Jacob and Crystal Wooldridge of Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Leslie Dishon of Radford; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Derek Cowan and Pastor Penny Wingfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service at Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville.
