Obituary of Joe Wright

Joe Wright, age 88, of Wytheville passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was the son of the late James Floyd and Nancy Alma Rosenbaum Wright. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Davis Wright; three brothers, Warren Wright, Sonny Wright and Robert Lee Wright; and a sister Louise McGrady. Joe loved the outdoors and was a avid outdoorsman all his life. Joe is survived by his two daughters & son-in-law, Laura & Bobby St.Clair of Roanoke, Kim Babcock of Wytheville; sons & daughter-in-law, Doug Roope & Lora Hastings of Wytheville, Terry & Kate Wright of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Addison Roope, Jordan Roope, Ashlyn St.Clair, Bradley St.Clair, Danielle Babcock, Janie Wright; two brothers and sister-in-law, Trent and Vickie Wright of Wytheville; Rassie Wright of Wytheville; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Margaret “Sis” McGrady of Rural Retreat; Vada Hanson of Wytheville; Martha and Bill Taylor of Wytheville; Kathleen Seagle of Wytheville; Bertha and Wes Shelton of Cripple Creek; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Wright of Wytheville and Marie Lambert of Pulaski. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Reverend Jacob Vanover. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the Goshen Cemetery in Spur Branch. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cemetery Assoc of Walkers Little Creek, 1490 Spur Branch Rd. Dublin, VA 24084.
