Obituary of Lucy Kidd Hall

Lucy Karen Kidd Hall age 75, formerly of Abingdon, passed away on January 26th, 2024. She was born in West Virginia on September 14, 1948 to her late father, David Newberry Kidd and her mother, Dorothy Sparks Kidd. She graduated from Bland High School in 1966, then attended Bluefield Sanitarium to train as a clinical lab technician. Lucy served in Bluefield Sanitarium, Wythe County Community Hospital, Pulaski Community Hospital, Riverside Labs Newport News before retiring. She was preceded in death by a son, John David Compton. Survivors includer her son, Michael Mathias Johnson; grandchildren, Ondia Steele, Harlen Nelson, Taylor Johnson, Shawna Compton, Haley Johnson and Hannah Johnson; Sister, Ginger Kidd Stowers; nephew and great nephew, Bryan Meade and Jacob Ayers; niece and great niece, Meridith Ayers and Emily Ayers; and many cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Grubb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery in Bland. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
