Obituary of Gaye F. Mock
Gaye F. Mock, 85, passed away on February 15, 2024, in Wytheville, VA. Born in Winston Salem on August 5, 1938, Gaye was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband George Mock, son Andy Mock (Stephen Hale), daughter Laurie Mock, and grandson Brandon Mock. She is also survived by close family and friends Rhonda Mabe, April Harris, Will Foy.
Gaye grew up in Winston Salem and attended James A. Gray High School, where she was a cheerleader, played percussion in the band, and excelled at basketball, tennis, and softball. In 1956, she married her childhood sweetheart, George Mock, and together they built a beautiful life. Gaye dedicated her professional career to RJ Reynolds's Tobacco Company in Winston Salem before moving to Austinville VA in 1982. She was a passionate manager at the Old Fort Antique Mall, where she shared her expertise and love for antiquities with others.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Gaye enjoyed listening to her children and grandson play music and was an avid collector of Raggedy Ann and Andy memorabilia. Her love for music and cherished collections brought joy to her life and the lives of those around her.
In honor of Gaye's memory, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Lupus Foundation of America in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of life will be held 3 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Wytheville Presbyterian Church conducted by Pastor John Langham and Pastor Brad Simpson. A reception will be held in Hatcher Hall following the service.
