Obituary of Daniel T. West
We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to announce the unexpected loss of Daniel T. West, 56, on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born on April 20th of 1968 in Elizabethton, Tennessee and later resided in Wytheville, Virginia. Daniel attended Happy Valley High School and started a career in Dietary Management.
Daniel was full of charisma and never met a stranger, people were naturally drawn to his fun-loving personality. He was a gifted storyteller and never disappointed with his witty remarks, sense of humor, and ability to spin amusing tales from everyday life. Daniel loved to cook for others and was well known for his amazing baking and cooking skills, his blueberry muffins and coconut cake were always in high demand. Daniel’s sense of style, creativity, and attention to detail contributed to his knack for decorating and interior design. Lastly, but certainly not least, Daniel’s favorite pastime was singing karaoke where he was in his element and never missed a beat.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Peggy West, and father-in-law Carl Phillips. He is survived by his very best friend and life partner Cliff Phillips, son Jordan West of Kingsport, daughter Jada Baker of Kingsport, two grandkids Kennedy Baker and Izaak West, sisters Sherry Hicks of Kingsport, Margaret (Larry) Ryans of Kingsport, Billie Grindstaff of Murfreesboro, Cindy (Doug) Crawford of Kingsport, Jo West of Elizabethton, brothers Bob (Vicki) Orfield of Georgia, Jamie West of Virginia, mother-in-law Barbara Phillips of Rural Retreat, and sister-in-law Melissa Phillips Burch (Pat) of North Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family is honoring Daniel’s pre-established wishes and there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will be announced and held after the family has time to grieve their heartbreaking loss. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital as this is where Daniel’s granddaughter is receiving treatment. The family would like to extend immense gratitude to Grubb Funeral Home for their kindness and care during this difficult time.
Gone too soon but we loved you enough for a lifetime and will always carry your memory in our hearts. We miss you so much already and are blessed that you touched and impacted our lives so significantly.
