Obituary of Charles Fredrick Phillips
Charles Fredrick Phillips, 83, of Wytheville passed away peacefully on Monday July 15, 2024. He was born June 8, 1941. He was a Navy Veteran and took great pride in his country. He was a talented craftsman and welder and had a passion for classic cars, most importantly he was a caring, loving, and faithful husband for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Otho Phlegar “Preach” Phillips, his mother Margaret Hartsock “Dee” Phillips, his brother, Ralph Phillips, and stepson Robert Crigger. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Crigger Phillips; his brother, Randy Phillips, of Wytheville; his daughter, Renee Phillips, Philadelphia, PA; his step-son Tony Duncan and wife Gwen, of Wytheville; his step-daughter-in-law Margaret Crigger, of Riner, VA; six grandchildren Nicholas and Jack Daily, Abbigale Collins and husband Jacob Collins, Zack Duncan, Alison DePoy and husband Adam, Sam Crigger; and two great-grandchildren Wade Collins and Christopher DePoy.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral at 2 P.M. with the Reverend Rick Lindamood officiating. A graveside service will follow at West End Cemetery with the American Legion Post #9 conducting Military rites.
