Obituary of Ellis Burton Hundley
Ellis Burton Hundley age 76 of Wytheville went to his heavenly home on July 21, 2024, after a fierce and courageous 14-year battle with cancer.
Ellis was an avid hunter and fisherman. Anyone that loved the outdoors quickly became his friend of which he had many.
Ellis loved his country. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1967 after graduating from George Wythe High school. He completed his 9 weeks of basic training and then received an Honorable Discharge as an Airman Apprentice.
Born May 4, 1948, in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Clifford Marzelle Hundley and Ollie Mae Shockley. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jeneanne Mae Sutliff, Sharon Wohlford of Rural Retreat.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Carolyn Dalton Hundley; 3 children Tommy Hundley of Wytheville; Jennifer Alley (Michael) of Fort Chiswell; and Brian Sutphin of Woodlawn. Lane and Greg Poff and their families all of Floyd: 1 brother Ben Sutliff (Pat) of Clemmons, NC and a sister Jeri (Clyde) Keen of Alexandria, Virginia; brother-in-law Wayne Wohlford of Rural Retreat; 5 grandchildren Kyle (Maggie) Alley of Wytheville, Colton Alley of Christiansburg, Ayden Hundley of Wytheville, Laurel and Skylon Sutphin of Woodlawn, and a very special godson, Harper Wayne Lintecum. Also left with memories are many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Derek Cowan officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Methodist Church in Poplar Camp.
