Obituary of Eldridge M. Felts

Eldridge M. Felts age 86, of Max Meadows, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Lewis Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital after a brief illness. His family was blessed to be able to care for him and savor time they had with him. He was born January 2, 1938 in Wythe County to the late James Walter “Bud” and Elva Akers Felts of Max Meadows. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Ingo Felts and the following siblings and spouses, Odis and Elizabeth Felts, James Felts, Garland Felts, Glen and Twyla Felts, Juanita and Ralph Ogle, Lorene and Chaffin Thacker and Gloal Holland. Eldridge made a career in construction. He worked for Wright Construction in Alexandia, Lewis Delp, ELCO construction, RGM Erectors as well as a personal contractor for his own jobs. He also worked on the tunnels on Interstate 77. He had a reputation for quality work and was skilled and knowledgeable in all areas of the trade. He is also known to be a jack of all trades including cooking, gardening, canning, fishing, and fixing just about anything that was broken. Survivors include his children, Jamie Felts, Tara Felts Dowdy and spouse Michael; Grandchildren Haley Felts, Trevor Dowdy and spouse Alexa, Julie Dowdy Stone and spouse Justin; brother and spouse, Larry and Charlotte Felts, sister, Sherlene Felts Akers; special kitty-Bella. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Circle Home Health Care and Andrea Rupe CNP and her nurses for their kindness and support. They all went above and beyond to help in his care. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Bobby Lewis and Pastor Jeff Pickett, with interment to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. until service time.
