Obituary of Ruth Callahan Coe

Ruth Callahan Coe age 89, of Wytheville, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Virginia to the late Garlen and Thelma Chrisley Callahan. She was a Lifetime Member of the West End Methodist Church. Ruth was a former employee of the United Telephone Company, Jafree Shirt Factory and the T/A Gift Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Buck” Coe; daughter, Faith Niday; two sons, Perry and Darren Coe; three sisters, Alma Callahan, Audrey Pike and Joyce Hackler; three brothers, Louis, Wayne and June Callahan. Ruth was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and H.B. Umberger of Wytheville; seven grandchildren, Stacie Umberger Malott (Luke), Cara Umberger Epes (Travis), Kirk Umberger (Kelly), Landon Umberger (Amy), Jared Umberger (Erin Bedwell), Parker Coe and Peyton Coe; ten Great Grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Everette Eddy of Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, Joan Callahan of Pulaski; Patricia Fauber Callahan of Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held 11 A.M. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat with Reverend Natalie Drummond officiating.
