Obituary of David Alton Fleetwood
David Alton “Dave” Fleetwood, aged 70, of Seaford, DE, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024.
Born in Seaford on December 22, 1953, he was the son of the late George Fleetwood and Doris (Bell) Fleetwood. After graduating from Seaford Senior High School in 1972, Dave set his aspirations on radio.
Known professionally as “Cadillac Dave” and “The Guy with the Golden Pipes”, Dave enjoyed a long career as a Radio Personality and DJ for the likes of 93.7 WSTW out of Wilmington, DE, 98.1 WOGL-FM out of Philadelphia, PA and Cruising’ 92.1 WVLT out of Vineland, NJ. He also worked as Assistant Production Director for CBS, Inc. WOGL in Philly and Production Director for Clear Communications, Inc. WVLT Radio in Vineland. At WSTW in Delaware, Dave had the highest rated midday radio show for the Greater Wilmington area for seven consecutive years and was the host of a popular Saturday night all-request Oldies show. He voiced ads and wrote lyrics to jingle packages from TM Century and Jam Productions. Dave also held tenure at WKEN in Dover, DE as a News Reporter. At CBS, he produced all Philadelphia Phillies daily baseball promos, as well as produced and voiced commercial billboards for pre-game and post-game shows up and down the Phillies Radio Network.
Dave was an avid movie buff, and a huge fan of Superman. He was known to quote Curly Howard from The Three Stooges on a regular basis, whether you liked it or not. Unsurprisingly, Dave was a lover of music - particularly Oldies and Classic Rock.
Dave is survived by his sons (“my boys”) Adam, Christopher and Michael Fleetwood; sisters Joyce Fleetwood and Kathleen (Fleetwood) Lingo; brothers Richard and James Fleetwood, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends and colleagues accumulated throughout his life and career.
Per David’s wishes there will be no services. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
