Obituary of Rush Brooks "R.B." Sutherland

Rush Brooks “R.B.” Sutherland, Jr. age 80, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Wytheville Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Rush Brooks, Sr. & Kate Layne Sutherland, a United States Navy Veteran, a member of the First Christian Church, and a retired state building inspector at Radford University. He is survived by his wife, Amy Cassell Sutherland of Wytheville; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Theldon Burnette of Garden City, SC; sons & daughters-in-law, Ben & Mary Sutherland of Virginia Beach, VA, Bobby Sutherland of Charlottesville, VA, Wade & Lisa Sutherland of Roanoke, VA, Rush & Beth Sutherland of Christiansburg, VA; grandchildren, Alicia & Neil Grant, Joshua & Kate Burnette, Bethany Burnette, Ashley & Dave Eppley, Benjamin & Diana Sutherland, Sarah Sutherland, Jacob Sutherland, Matthew Sutherland, Taylor Sellers, Reagan Sellers, Brady Sutherland, Hunter Sutherland; great grandchildren, Lillian & Pearl Eppley, Noah & Ian Grant, Sofia Sutherland; sister, Mildred Shelton of West Point, VA. Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Wednesday February 15, 2017 at First Christian Church on Main St. conducted by Pastor George Hamm and The Reverend Preston Sartelle with interment to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 6 to 8PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Presbyterian Children’s Home of the Highlands, P.O. Box 545, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
