Obituary of Glenna Dellinger Turner
Glenna Dellinger Turner of Wytheville, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 4, 2024. Glenna was born on January 5, 1937, to Lloyd and Edna Dellinger and grew up in Cherryville, NC. She graduated from Carrabus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with a degree in nursing, a profession which she loved. Glenna spent many years as a school nurse in Wythe County. Eventually, Glenna began passing on her passion for nursing to others by teaching CNA classes well into her 70s, even being named the 2010 Wytheville Community College Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year. Glenna moved to Wytheville in 1963, and she truly loved and adored her community and town. She was an active member of many community organizations and a member of Wytheville Baptist Church.
More than anything Glenna loved her family and friends. Glenna is survived by her two daughters Tanya Bridges (Mike) of Sneads Ferry, NC and Darcia Munro (David) of Lake Placid, FL; her three grandchildren Caitlin Woodington (Michael), Ian Munro (Rosina), and Blake Bridges; her one great-grandchild Zane Woodington; and her two nieces Tonda Christian (Bill) and Samantha Moss (Tim). Glenna was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Glenn and Edna Dellinger, her sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Tom Beam, and her dear friend Frieda Lovelace. Glenna is also survived by many dear and precious friends including Judy Willis, Linda Butt, Chris Bird, Ann Harrison, Anna Bush, Judy Burkett, Tina Hypes, Sheila Wyatt, Billie Taylor, and Joan Stuart. She had many other friends, former students and members of her community and church whom she cared about very much.
The service for Glenna Turner will be held on Friday, November 8th at Wytheville Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors from 12-2pm with a service following at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for any donations to be made to the music fund at the Wytheville Baptist Church in Glenna’s memory.
