Obituary of John Henry Young, Sr.

John Henry Young, Sr. age 84, of Wytheville, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017. He was the son of the late John Henry & Winifred Kane Young. He was born on December 27, 1932 in Yorkshire, England, was educated in Scotland and served twelve years in The H.L.I. Glasgows own Regiment where he served in The Middle East. John was preceded in death by his son, John Henry Young, Jr., sister, Winifred Kane Downie, brother, James Young. He is survived by his wife, Norah Power Young of Wytheville; daughter, Marie Young Turner of Wytheville; grandchildren, Christopher Young, Scott Young, Lauren Young all of Max Meaadows, Ashley Sisk, Jason Turner both oif Wytheville; great grandchildren, Tanner Mabry of Foster Falls, Autumn Helms of Wytheville, Je’lynne Hodges of Salem, Brayden Turner, Alexis Isom, Allie Sisk all of Wytheville; nephew, David and Jean Downie of Glasgow, Scotland; nieces, Maureen McLean of Glasgow, Scotland, Christine Grant of Brighton, England; several great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and several special friends also survive.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Mary The Mother of God Catholic Church conducted by The Reverend Bernie Ramirez and Deacon Charles May. The family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2017 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel from 5 PM until 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM.
