Obituary of David Allen Ren
David Allen Ren was born in Calexico, California on November 8, 1942. He was the fourth child of Charlotte Ellen Lewis (Ren, McNeilis) and Charles Claude Ren, both of Ajo, Arizona.
Number 00 on his high school basketball team, because he weighed all of 98 pounds, David graduated from Ajo High School in 1960 and joined the army where he spent four years; while in the army, Dave beat everyone in the Bay Area at pool, cracked 100 pounds, and achieved the rank of specialist.
After his military service, David attended Chaffey College in Alta Loma, California and earned his associates degree in journalism. With a family to support, his lifelong dream to be a sports writer had to be put on hold and, instead, he took jobs with Oxy Metals as a salesman and later with EG&G Idaho, Inc. as a quality engineer.
After twenty years of taking a vacation day every other Monday, David finally retired to Payson, AZ in 1998 and later moved to Max Meadows, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his eldest child, a son, Donald Wesley, and his brother, Charles “Chuck” Ren.
David is survived by Edie, his wife of 48 years, his daughters Rita and Michele, grandchildren Robert, Paige, and Zain, his nephew, Jon, a brother, Don, and two sisters, Judie and Margaret Jean. Also surviving David is his sense of humor, the ridiculous names he had for people and things, and his love of burritos, which lives on in his children and grandchildren.
Per his request there will be no services.
