I was fortunate to have Frank as an uncle. We didn't live close by, unfortunately, but he made his way to us when he could. Still, no matter where he was, I knew he would always be there for me if I needed him. He was such a kind and loving person with such a bright spirit. The term "gentleman" applied to him in the truest sense. He will be greatly missed.

So sorry to hear about Mr Putney. I worked at the public library in Wytheville for years. I remember him as always having a smile on his face and willing to lend a helping hand.

I first met Frank in 1963 when I was beginning as a trainee with Southern States Coop in Tazewell, VA. Frank was the Farm Supply Supervisor at the time and always took time to explain what his responsibility was and was always willing to help a young man understand the importance of farm supplies to the retail operation.
I worked with Frank from 1963 until 1981 when I moved to Richmond through the promotion process. After returning to Southwest VA in 1989 I saw Frank every now and then and he was always the same jovial man that i first encountered at Tazewell.
Frank was a man who would go out of his way to help others. He would always make sure that any problem was understood before leaving it. He would always leave each encounter with a smile and a feel good attitude.
After I retired in 2003 and we established a Retiree group here in Southwest VA, we would get to see each other quite often at our semi annual meetings. It was a pleasure for the whole group to get together and remember those times of years gone by and the people that we knew down through our careers.
Frank was a friend and was always there with a smile on his face. He was also a family man and a Godly man. He leaves great memories, he was one of the good guys.

Frank Putney was a true friend to all. He helped his neighbors near and far. Frank always had a smile to begin and end all conversations. I worked with Frank for about ten years before he retired from Southern States. He was always there to help you and was a lot of the reason I was successful in my career at Southern States. Frank made it easy to ask questions by always enjoying to know the answer or find out if he did not know. A humble man who helped others on the job, in his community, and his church. Frank will be greatly missed! All of us who knew him were greatly benefited by his friendship and his work. I played several rounds of Golf with him back when I had time to play and he was always a great sport. We will all miss him. May he rest in peace.

Frank was an inspiration to many and will greatly missed. He was always on the go, involved in many activities, but always pleasant and nice to be around. I will miss our rounds of golf, discussing politics and books, and visiting at Lion's club meetings.
