Obituary of Sarah Danielle Sanders

Sarah Danielle Sanders, age 37, of Abingdon, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018. Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Mildred Claudine Smith and Fielden O. Sr. and Nellie Anderson Sanders. She was a 1999 graduate of Rural Retreat High School, a 2003 graduate of Emory & Henry and later received her Master’s Degree in History. She was a History Teacher at John Battle High School. Sarah is survived by her parents, Fielden O. Jr. and Susan Sanders of Wytheville; sister and brother-in-law, Ashley & Jason Lowder of Wytheville; nephews, Jacob Lowder, Nathan Lowder both of Wytheville; aunt, Debbie Overbay of Marion; cousins, Jason Pafford of Roanoke, Randy Pafford of Airville PA; special friend, Mark Hagy of Abingdon; several extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Monday, February 12, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Rick Lindamood and The Reverend Gary Houseman, with interment to follow in Fairwood Cemetery, Troutdale, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Historical Society of Washington County, Virginia, P.O. Box 484 Abingdon, VA 24212-0484.
