Beth, Frances and Meg: Most sorry to hear the news about Aunt Sara Anne I am now residing in Noblesville just outside Indianapolis. I am visually impaired but able to work and drive. I am still working and will be for another 5 years I rent a small home from my best friend Virginia who I have known since I was 9.. I know what a difficult time this is for you guys. Hold each other tight You are in my thoughts and prayers. The photo is a good one by the way. She looks just like I remember her. Love, cousin Becky

Your mother was a true example of a beautiful southern woman. She really was ahead of her time in many areas of life. I have so many memories of you guys and Sara Anne. Who could forget the homemade cheese toast, the homemade grape juice and the exotic stuffed ocelot!! Your mom will certainly be missed but we know that heaven has gained an angel.

I am so so sorry for your loss. I loved Sara and she was a kind and caring person. She was a pleasure to be around and cared very deeply for her family. I will miss her and also seeing her wonderful family. I have been taking care of older people half my life and saw how her children took such good care of her and that is not always the case in other families. It’s not often you see such love for a mother like her girls gave to Sara. She was truly blessed and will be greatly missed. Thank you so much Meg, Beth and Francis for your kindness to all of those who cared for Sara.

I hate to hear that Ms.Sara has passed away. I lived across the hall from her from 2004-2014, ten years. I will always remember that beckoning call from my backdoor, "Tracy!" I would always stop what I was doing to assist her with what she needed...be it help setting up her internet, bringing in something from her car, or taking the eggs and milk she always would offer before taking a vacation. One year she asked my, then small daughter, to bring in her newspaper during one of her vacations and said she would pay her upon her return home -- pay??? twenty-five cents -- great pay for a little one. Sarah always kept a check on me and I on her. She was an awesome lady and will greatly be missed!

I went to work for Sara when I was 20, and she changed my life. She was the social work supervisor at Wythe County Department of Social Services. Without her mentorship and encouragement, I would not have completed my undergraduate degree and gone on to grad school. Sara was one in a million! We remained friends all these many years, and although I had not seen her since last summer, she was often on my mind. Sara loved to greet you by saying, "Well, are you making a difference?" I certainly hope so. I know she sure did.
