Obituary of Edgar Brown Grubb
Edgar Brown “Eddie” Grubb, age 86, of Wytheville passed away peacefully at Carrington Place after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born May 21, 1929 the son of the late Edgar Bowman & Ina Leedy Grubb. Eddie joined West End Methodist Church at age 21 before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he achieved rank of Staff Sgt. Air Policeman. While stationed at Greenville AFB in Miss., he met and married Shirley Sanders Grubb, then returned to Virginia where he worked in the Hosiery Industry before retirement. He was preceded in death by his sister, Clyde Grubb; brother, Fred Grubb; grandson Robbie Tolbert; nephews, Mason Grubb , Martin Grubb. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sanders Grubb of Wytheville; daughter & son-in-law, Jane & Fred Starling of Fayetteville, NC; sons & daughter-in-law, Steven & Maxine Grubb of Max Meadows, Tim Edgar Grubb of Wytheville, Troy Grubb of Wytheville; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; niece, Shelly Grubb & Jerry King of Clinton, SC; special friends, Paul & Dollie Lees of Illinois.
Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday May 12, 2016 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Rick Lindamood, with interment to follow in the Rosewood Memorial Cemetery, Rural Retreat VA. with American Legion Post #9 conducting Military Graveside Rites.
