Obituary of Samuel Phillippi Shumate
Samuel Phillippi Shumate, age 65, of Wytheville, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018. He was a United States Army retiree. He was the son of the late Earl Monroe & Lela Maebelle Shupe Shumate, and was preceded in death by his brother Edward Earl Shumate. He is survived by two sisters, Sandra Montgomery of Wytheville, Nancy & Jim Graves of NC.; four brothers and sister-in-law, Albert Ray Shumate of Dublin, VA, Joseph Leon Shumate of Crockett, VA, Daniel Martin & Christine Shumate of Wytheville, VA, and Barton Shumate of Wytheville, VA. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside service will be held 2 PM, Tuesday November 13, 2018 at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA, conducted by Pastor Harvey Atkinson. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
