Obituary of David Gilmer Jones

David Gilmer Jones “Mr. Haney” age 78, of Wytheville, passed away on December 6, 2018. David was the son of the late Charles Mitchell and Pansy Cannoy Jones and preceded by his four sisters, Shirley Jones, Barbara Amburn, Carol Jones and Darlyne Hoback; one brother Wayne Jones. David attended Evergreen Methodist church. He made his living by driving Tractor Trailers most of his life.

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Fisher Jones; one Son David E. “Jady” Jones; two wonderful granddaughters, Jessica and Aaron Pauley, Heather Jones; two special great grandchildren, Cooper and Payton Pauley; one sister and brother-in-law Geneva and Robert Stroupe; two brothers, Billy Jones and Donnie Jones; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and James Scott, Doris Spraker, Nancy Jones and Liz Fisher; several nieces, nephews, cousins; special cousin, Roy Jones; and many special friends and neighbors.

Funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Steve Alderman, with interment to follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
