Obituary of Ellen Chaffin Johnson

Ellen Chaffin Johnson, age 78, of Wytheville, VA, passed away Saturday, July 30th 2016. She was born August 3rd 1937 to the late George Chaffin and Marie Chaffin. She retired from Wytheville Community Hospital and Wythe County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband McDonald Johnson Sr. Also preceded in death by brother, Thomas Burks and three sisters, Catherine Chaffin, Myrtle Hopkins and Sylvia Burks. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine “Kitten” and Stephan Thomas of Hickory, NC; son and fiancée, McDonald “Bitty” Johnson and Cora Miller of Wytheville, VA; brother, George and Mary Chaffin; sister Frances Blake; and nine grandchildren, Alesha Johnson, Claudia and Adam Rees, Marshall Thomas, Vincent Miller, Reign Johnson, Maddison Johnson, Stephan Thomas I, Travis Thomas and Jermaine Grandy and great-grandson Johnson Rivers. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services will be held, Saturday, August 6th 2016 at 11:00am at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1300 West Monroe Street, Wytheville, Va. The family will receive friends before the service at 10:30am. The family would like to thank each and every one for all acts of kindness during the sickness and passing of their loved one.
