Obituary of Norris R. Taylor, Sr.

Norris R. Taylor, Sr. age 90, of Wytheville, passed away on January 31, 2021. He was born on August 31, 1930 in Wythe County to the late John Harvey and Dollie Umbarger Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Thompson Taylor, sisters, Lelia Adams, Mattie Layne, Hazel Taylor, and Lottie Walters; three brothers, John Harvey Taylor, Jr., Alvin Homer “Tooney” Taylor, and Robert L. Taylor. Norris was retired from Lightnin Mixers and a friend to all. Survivors include his daughter and her special friend, Tammy Jackson, and Tony Williams of Wytheville; son and daughter-in-law, N.R. and Sarah Taylor of Wytheville; grandson and fiancé, Zac Taylor and Morgan Frye of Wytheville; two great grandchildren, Jaelyn and Keaton Taylor both of Wytheville; special friend Leona Porter of Wytheville and many special nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held 6 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Grubb Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Collins and Pastor Chad Dunford officiating. Graveside service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. in the West End Cemetery with Reverend Jim Tunnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
