Obituary of James "Rab" Alfred Etter, Sr.

James “Rab” Alfred “Paw” Etter, Sr., age 99, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was the son of the late James L & Mary Irvin Etter, and a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the Frist Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Helen Davidson Etter; sister, Rachel Wright; brothers, Charlie Etter, Elmer Etter, Rhudell Etter, Joe Etter, Roger Etter and Stanley Etter. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie & Danny Jackson of Wytheville, Sue & Melvin Cregger of Wytheville; son, Jimmy Etter, of Wytheville; brothers, David Etter of Salem, Jerry Etter of Wytheville, 5 granddaughters, Carol, Melanie, Jennifer, Jamie, Jessica; 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren; brother-in-law and spouse, Richard & Julie Davidson of Abingdon; sisters-in-law, Shirley Blankenship of Wytheville, Imogene Etter of Wytheville. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Bobby Dunford, and Reverend Donald Mutter, with interment to follow in Berea Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until service time or at the home, 1260 W. Spiller Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 at any time.
