Obituary of Lewis Ziggler Stroup, Jr.
Lewis Ziggler “Buster” Stroup, Jr., 73 of Wytheville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening March 5th 2022. Known as Buster to some and Lewis to others, he was born on January 26th 1949, in Wytheville. His parents, Lewis and Nora Belle Stroup, and his older brother Daniel Clinton Stroupe preceded him in death.
With Buster since she was just 15, his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy Carol Sexton survives him. Their daughters are Kelly S and Brad Coleman of Huntersville, NC, and Shona Stroup Henderson of Wytheville. Buster was proud Paw to three grandchildren, Grey, Reed, and Zane Coleman of Huntersville, NC. Other surviving family are siblings, Joyce “Sissy” Stroup of Wytheville and David and Carrie Stroup of Michigan; special friend, Danny Pruett of Wytheville. He is uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Buster spent his days loving God, Nancy, and his girls. At 59 years old, he beat cancer odds and spent the next years of his life showing everyone what complete trust in God looked like. With immeasurable faith, he always spoke the words "I win either way”. An avid hunter, fisherman, and musician, he was a friend to all that knew him. Buster was in his element in a tree stand, with a fishing pole, or playing bluegrass gospel on a variety of stringed instruments. In the later years, a cold Dr. Pepper, a sunny porch, and his dog Fiddle made him happy.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 10th. Viewing is 5pm to 7pm at Rosenbaum Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral service immediately follows. The Reverend Jim Moran will officiate services, along with Pastor Ginger Cornett, Buster’s sister-in-law. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
