Obituary of Mildred Jean Davis

Mildred Jean Davis, 84, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at her home in Rural Retreat, Virginia. Mildred was born in Bland County on December 19, 1937. She had an independent spirit, and loved to sing in the choir, was an avid reader, and on beautiful days, Mildred loved to ride the roads on her Honda trike. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and was forever proud of her grandchildren. Mildred was loved by her friends, family, and those who were luck enough to be considered family. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Wayne Davis and daughter, Diana Linette “Dede” Davis. Mildred is survived by a son, Wesley Davis of Gastonia, NC, a daughter, Cheryl Viars, son-in-law, Sean Viars, two grandchildren, Grayson and Lily Viars of Rural Retreat, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, for their compassionate and professional care. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 PM with a service to follow at 7 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Rural Retreat United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Clayton Farmer.
