Obituary of Virginia Elma Brown

Virginia Elma Brown, age 80, of Austinville, passed away Wednesday April 20, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Wallace & Angeline Brown and was preceded in death by her brother, William James Brown, her sister Rebecca Jane Brown and her son Terry Burcham and daughter Dorrena Burcham. She is survived by her daughter Lorrainea Burcham and son Robert Burcham. She has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She loved to garden, sew, paint, knit and crochet and made many beautiful things throughout her life. She was a Marine and loved her time in the military. She loved animals and particularly dogs and birds. She lived in Alaska for many years where she learned to raise and race sled dogs and was the first woman to run an all white husky team in the Iditarod. A funeral service will be held on April 30, 2022, at 2pm. The family will receive visitors from 12noon to 2pm at Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville.
