Obituary of Rebecca Sexton Fitzgerald Sarkiarvi

Rebecca (Becky) Sexton Fitzgerald Sarkijarvi, age 72, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on 05/27/2022. Becky was born April 22, 1950, in Wytheville Virginia. Becky was the oldest of 8 children and the youngest child in the nation in 1950 to have polio. Becky overcame many adversities in her life by the grace of her Lord Jesus. Becky crossed so many paths and left her friendship and love with all she met. Becky’s favorite time was when she was fishing and cooking. Becky was preceded in death by her son Roger Lee (Ronnie) Fitzgerald, her parents Jim and Lolly Sexton, her sister Susan Kay Sexton, her brothers Pete Sexton, Rickey Sexton, and Jimmy Sexton, and her best friend Roger Lee Fitzgerald. Becky is survived by her daughter Buffey R. Fitzgerald of Wytheville, her son and daughter-in-law Jody and Jessica Fitzgerald of Max Meadows, her son Brandon Shane Fitzgerald of Rural Retreat, son-in-law Tony Jones of Thomas Bridge. Her sisters, Nancy C. Sexton of Wytheville, Debbie S. Hancock of Roanoke, Ginger Sexton Cornett of Wytheville, Toni A. Sexton of Wytheville, and Bonnie F. Marsh of Wytheville. Her grandchildren Ronnie and Kimmy Jones, Lori Ann and Lee Ogle, Rickey W. Coley, Tyler Fitzgerald, Jacob Fitzgerald, Tessa Fitzgerald, and Noah Lee Fitzgerald. Her great grandchildren, Dakota Greer, Colton Greer, Link Jones, Ryleigh Jones, Finley Jones, and Selena Jones. Her nieces and nephews, Kelly Coleman, Shona Stroup, Lolly Madison Cornett, Tiffany Sexton, Charles Sexton, Michael Sexton, Misty Sexton, Justin Hancock, and Joshua Hancock. Becky is survived by many beautiful grand nieces and nephews as well as cousins and friends that she cherished. A private family service and committal service will be held at Rosenbaum Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Reverend Ginger Sexton Cornett will be officiating the services. The family will be accepting visitors on Sunday May 29th at the home of Becky’s sister Ginger Sexton Cornett, 629 Barrett Mill Road, Wytheville, VA 24382.
