Obituary of Ruth Andrew Chapman Howard

Ruth Andrew Chapman Howard reached the end of her wonderful life of 93 years, on June 10, 2022. She was born December 29, 1928, in Wytheville, VA to the late Garland and Nannie Chapman. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeannie Howard. Ruth dedicated her life to helping others and was an inspiration to many. She was a devoted nursing employee of Wythe County Community Hospital working in Labor and Delivery and the Emergency Room. After retiring, she continued helping others by volunteering for the Wythe County Rescue Squad, where she ran emergency calls, helped train new members and served as Chaplain. Left to treasure her memory are her children, Joyce Latham of Ohio, Earl Latham (Maria) of California, Jerry Chapman (Leslie) of Colorado, Wayne Howard (Robin) of Wytheville, Garland Howard (Amy) of Roanoke, Cathy Howard of Wytheville, Gene Howard (Norma) of Wytheville and Tina Howard of Wytheville. Also left to treasure her memory are her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and devoted family friend, Theresa Burriss. The family would like to thank Hospice of Southwest Virginia for not only making Ruth's final days peaceful, but also giving her family peace. Memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Reverend Dale Akers. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until service time.
