Obituary of Delmar Ray Cline

Delmar Ray Cline, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Speedwell on September 8, 2022, after a short battle with lung cancer. Delmar was born in Wythe County on January 9, 1946, to the late Millard Ray and Mary Cline. Before graduating high school, his family moved to WV where he followed in his father’s footsteps of becoming a mechanic for Vecellio and Grogan. In 1975, Delmar moved his family back to Speedwell. After leaving Vecellio and Grogan, he worked for Worldwide Equipment in Princeton, WV, and eventually found work closer to home, working for Virginia Department of Transportation and retiring in 2009. Delmar spent his retirement years helping family and friends keep their cars in working order. He enjoyed gardening, researching genealogy, and he always had a soft spot in his heart for animals and children. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry Cline, his brother Little Joe, his nephew Keigh Porter, and his great granddaughter, Nora Fulton. He is survived by his loving companion of 43 years, Mellie Meadows; his daughters Lisa(Leon) Frost of Galax, VA and Ava (Daniel) Arnold of Max Meadows, VA; his daughters-in-love Rhonda Meadows of Speedwell, VA and Nina Meadows of Wytheville, VA; seven grandchildren: Matthew (Brittney) Arnold of Wytheville; Emily (Cody) Fulton of Warner Robins, GA; Katy (Ein) Denti of Kingsport, TN; Chase (Kassie) Arnold of Cleveland, TN; Chloe, Abby, and Josiah Arnold of Max Meadows, VA; four great grandchildren: Henry Arnold, Lydia and Walter Fulton, and Everly Denti; his sister Carolyn Porter; his nephew Michael (Monica) Porter. He also leaves behind his beagle, buddy. Delmar’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Speedwell United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Delmar would like for donations to be made to the cemetery fund at the church.
