Dr. Stone was my doctor for over 40 years. He felt more like a dad and a friend because he got to know me and my family as well as my medical history. He always had that smile that made you feel comfortable and valued as his patient. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. He will always have a special place in my heart and memories.

The Dellinger family went to Dr. Stone for years. I remember going to him while growing up in Wytheville for all of my sports physicals and other check-ups. Dr. Stone was a great doctor and took great care of my family. He enjoyed talking about VMI and wrestling. I was on the wrestling team at George Wythe with two of his sons, Jimmy and John.

40 years ago I had been to many doctors with extremely high B/Ps and Pulses plus many other symptoms. More than 2 dozen doctors said it was anxiety. On my first visit to his office he told me " I think I know the source of your symptoms. You have a tumor of the adrenal gland." He then sent me for tests that proved his diagnosis was correct. When I saw the surgeon he told me that only 10 % of people had this tumor were diagnosed in life , most were found during autopsies At the time Birdmont had horrible insurance, he went the extra mile and worked out some deal with the hospital that I would not be charged for the surgery if I allowed the medical students to come in as classes as well as individuals to study my case. That made him my hero. As a nurse I learned a lot from him

Wow! I always knew he was medically intuitive. Thanks for sharing your story!
He delivered my daughter and took care of my Mom through some of her last years. I will always remember him making me feel better about any and all worries I may have had with his great sense of humor. The heavens have regained a genuine seed of light.

From the time he started practicing in Wytheville, Dr. Stone cared for the majority of my family. He was compassionate and relentless in the care of his patients. And he had an unmatchable sense of humor. One of those that let you know he got as much (or more) joy out of telling a joke or a story than you did from hearing it. As a nurse, I learned from him from the time I became a nurse and through the next 40 years. As a nursing instructor with a group of students at the hospital, I saw Dr. Stone take the time to explain situations and teach those students with the same passion he had 40 years prior. Just a wonderful man, physician and mentor! To the Stone family, I send you my heartfelt condolences. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with him at WCCH and also was his patient. He delivered both of our daughters. He told me one time that every time he delivered a healthy baby, he looked to the heavens and said Thank you God. He had a heart of gold and we as his patients were lucky to have him. Thank you Stone family for sharing him with us all those years. He was a treasure. Prayers and condolences to all of you.

Dr Stone was the best of family. I practically grew up in his office, schoolwork beside the beautiful fish and the comfort of his warm greetings to each of his patients. The picnics on the river, Rose a treasure. He truly cared about people and was so intelligent, a great role model. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Condolences to the family. He loved you most of all.
