Obituary of Dorothy Page Johnson Jones

Dorothy Page Johnson Jones, Age 97, of the Fort Chiswell community, departed a long and full life on November 1, 2022, to enter eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dot was born October 21, 1925, at home in the Slate Springs Branch community of Wythe County to Melvin Reece Johnson and Gaye Crockett Johnson. She treasured memories of her youth with her siblings on the family farm, with her special cousin Brownie, and close friend Marie Groseclose. She worked from an early age in the textile industries of Wythe and Pulaski counties and always kept up on current events. She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Piney. She was preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Jones; brothers; Robert Eddystone Johnson and James Ralph Johnson; sisters Mildred J. Maynard, and Floella J. Mercer. She is survived by her sons, James Larry Jones of Denver, CO, and Craig Thomas Jones and wife Sherry of Fort Chiswell; beloved grandsons Zachary Aaron Jones and Jacob Matthew Jones and wife Tiffany along with her special great grandchildren Ella Paige Jones and Cole David Jones; sister, Glaydese (Glay) J. Rider; brother, John Wayne Johnson and wife Brenda; sister-in-law, Callie Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in the Piney Community conducted by Reverend Joe Carrico, with the interment to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
