Obituary of Martha Marie Lineberry Tate

Martha Marie Lineberry Tate age 93, of Wytheville, entered into her heavenly rest on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Martha was born to Wiley and Sarah Sheets Lineberry on August 18, 1929 in Wythe County. She married John Willam Tate of Wytheville on November 16, 1945 and Born 7 children. Marth has past employment by Betterway Laundry, Reed’s Nursing Home and Wytheville Holiday Inn. She retired from Holiday Inn in October 1989 where she had received several Good House Keeping and Housekeeper of the Year Award in 1984. She attended the original Church of God and Gospel Light House Church for many years while she was able to attend. She said I love my Lord, Family, Friends, and Everybody. Martha was preceded in death by her husband and parents and her siblings, four sisters, Goldie Lineberry, Elizabeth Hoback, Mary Lineberry and Edna Fifer; two brothers, Bob Lineberry and Pete Lineberry; and two niece and nephew. Survivors include her three daughters, Martha Sue Kennedy (Dan), Gladys Kennedy (James), Maggie Bishop (Larry); four sons, Andy Tate, Johnny Tate (Lonnie Bell), James Junior Tate, Wayne Tate (Debbie), 20 grandchildren, numerous great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Wyndam Davidson and Pastor Charles McPeak officiating. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery.
