I am sorry to hear about Charley's passing. I am forever grateful that he hired me to work at the Tyson's Corner State Farm claims office in 1987. It was a busy hard working place, but Charley cared about his employees. I recall one snowy afternoon we were closing early due to the weather and i wondered who was outside throwing those snowballs? The unmistakable laugh gave him away. Heaven just got to be a little more fun with Charley, but i pray his family here on earth experiences peace during this difficult time.

Sandy & family, Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. Charley hired me into the State Farm family in 1994 and paved the way for my career at the Farm. Charley WAS STATE FARM to all in Northern Virginia and earned everyone's deep respect and admiration. I have always have deep fondness for Charley and I know he will be missed greatly. I can still hear him "Gilbert get in here we need to talk" wasn't always bad but .. Charley hired me in 1988 in Tyson's corner Va. office. I am forever grateful for his straight talks to me that well kept me focused and got me on my career path with State Farm . His last words to me when we left No Va.,"Gilbert transferring to Lynchburg,Va will be good for you son". My Thoughts and Prayers to Sandy and his family may God Bless

Charlie was always a favorite of mine. We worked together in management for many years at State Farm. Our Claim Council meetings were always much more interesting because of his input. The socials were quite enjoyable because of his presence. I admired his personality and leadership. He and another friend of mine, Charlie Knight, were best of friends. God bless the family.

We bought a house at Wintergreen next door to Charley and Sandy Shockley in 1998, and the times that followed until they sold their house were some of the most memorable and enjoyable of our lives. Truly highlights and peak experiences. Charley taught me to cook "eggs a la Shockley" at our memorable breakfasts at their house, and I have cooked eggs that way ever since and told everyone all about the origin of this secret. We will never forget Charley's smile and how much he enjoyed life. We will always remember their dog Scruffy and have loved receiving photos of Tory and Winston each Christmas. You just couldn't help but enjoy life a little more when you were with Charley, and his beloved Sandra, too. May you rest in peace, dear friend.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Charles. He had an impact on Mike & I that he never knew about. Every Sunday from the 1st Sunday we came to St. Paul until we moved last April his smile was the first thing we saw when we entered the door. It gave us a feeling of " we are home". His passing will leave a huge hole in the community.
