Obituary of Phyllis Belle Wright Dix

Phyllis Belle Wright Dix age 72, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018.  She was born on September 16, 1946 to the late Foster and May Wright.  She was preceded in death by five sisters, Cille Nuckols, Chris Viars, Jessie Faye “Tom” Patton and Mary Catherine “Baby” McDonald and three brothers, Clyde “Doot” Wright, “Tea” Wright and Dan Wright.  Phyllis was a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Wytheville.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John Ward “J.W.” Dix, Sr. of Wytheville; three sons, John Jr. “Johnny” and Missy Dix of Wytheville; Todd Foster Dix of Mooresville, NC; Eric Jason Dix of Rural Retreat; two grandchildren, Emily Dix and Jason Dix both of Wytheville; two sisters, Hazel “Toppy” Vandyke of Colonial Heights, VA; Ann and Lewis Brewer of Dublin; two brothers, Eddie Wright and Freddie Wright both of Chesterfield, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 11a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Cornett and The Reverend Gary Houseman officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Grubb Funeral Home.
