Obituary of Bertha Hoback

Bertha Hoback, age 77, of Wytheville, VA passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was born on July 18, 1945 in Tazewell County, VA to the late John and Ethel Godbey. Bertha was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, and grandmother. After a long career serving others with the Department of Motor Vehicles, Bertha had the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest in her retirement doing the things she loved, traveling and camping with Archie, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters Shirley and Nancy, brother George, and daughters Terri and Vicki. Her 4 grandchildren, Taylor, Lindsey, Bailey, and Emily were blessed to be able to share many summers at the lake with their Nana fishing, going on golf cart rides, and most importantly, campfires and smores, lots of smores! She is survived by her daughters Terri Grubb(Ranny) and Vicki Dixon(Chuck), sisters Nancy Wallace and Shirley Susman, brother George Godbey, nephews Jayson and Shannon Susman, and her grandchildren Taylor Williamson(Carter), Lindsey Dixon, Bailey Divers(Jakob), and Emily Dixon. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 12 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Wytheville in the chapel of the Grubb Funeral Home with the Reverend Aubrey Whitlow officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 prior to the service at the funeral home.
